Getting the ball rolling…again
Published by Matt Glover June 16th, 2008 in MiscA few things have been happening in Chewing Pencils land that are worth an update:
1. The back is, well…back! I’ve been given the all clear from my surgeon to get on with as much of life as I can. There’s still a few weeks to go before I can do everything I once did, but overall the process has been a success. Thanks again for your comments and emails wishing me well.
2. On the comment front, you might notice that the few posts that I did manage to do this year have disappeared. This is because I had to change web hosts because of constant spider/spam attacks that were blowing my bandwidth and getting me fined big bucks every few days. In the process of the transfer, the most recent posts were lost. None of these were cartoon related - most were just me whining about a bad back and updates on the recovery after surgery!
3. But now that everything seems to be fixed, it’s time to get the ball rolling again. The posting frequency will be nowhere near as large as the early days of Chewing Pencils, but what I am hoping to do is:
- Revisit the top ten tips for becoming a professional cartoonist. What has changed in the business in the last two years (more than you’ll realise) and how can we stay in front of the game?
- Run another drawing project - the prize and the judge are already lined up!
- The Friday Feature Artist will return
- I’ll get around to answering the ten million questions in my inbox
There’s a good chance that life will overtake the blog at certain times, but that’s ok. It’s the nature of life when you’re a part-time freelancer with deadlines!
So pick up your pencil (or stylus, brush, crayon, nib or whatever) and start chewing it! We have some serious funny drawing to get into…!!

Good to see you back up and running…or at least standing again.
