Well, he’s just down the road a bit, but that doesn’t take away from this talented and thought provoking artist.

How long have you been drawing cartoons?
I think the first time I was about seven years old.
Have you done any formal training? If so, what and where?
VCE Art and Studio Arts, and one semester of a diploma of Visual Arts at
Tafe about 13 years ago
Where was your first cartoon published?
Greekartoon.
What materials do you use to create your work?
Mostly pencil, pen and ink on paper or acrylic paint on canvas
What hardware and software do you use?
Have fooled around with the basic microsoft paintbox thingy. But I really
prefer the hand on paper approach, which I guess puts me at a disadvantage
in the digital age.
From where do you draw your inspiration?
Everywhere.
What are some of the resources you’ve found most helpful?
The internet has been a great one for stumbling across folks like your good
self with the professional edge that can offer tips to head scratchers like
me.
What is the best piece of advice you have EVER been given? The worst?
The best: Never give up The worst: Give up
Take us through the process you use to create one of your drawings:
At the moment, I do alot of pencil sketches to work up ideas, sometimes even
as a theraputic or meditative thing, or when an idea slaps me in the face I
try and get them onto paper, work them up, then I try to expand on those
ideas with paint on canvas or some other medium
How long does it generally take to create one piece?
Anywhere from thirty minutes to three days. Some pieces are still gestating
after a year or more
What do you find the hardest to draw?
Plane Air ( is that how you spell it?) Thats drawing out door scenes, not
Air Planes back the front. They are pretty hard as well though;)
What do your friends and family think of you being a cartoonist?
They’ve accepted it
What do you think is the best part about being a cartoonist?
The deep satisfaction of creating
What has been the standout post on Chewing Pencils for you? Why?
Your stuff on the business side of things and getting published. Coz its
stuff I just dont like to think about.
