RIP: Jonny Hart
Published by Matt Glover April 9th, 2007 in Cartoons in the NewsCartoonist Johnny Hart, whose award-winning BC comic strip appeared in more than 1300 newspapers worldwide, has died while working on a comic strip at his home in the US.
The 76-year-old had been working in his studio in his New York state home when he died.
“He had a stroke,” Hart’s wife, Bobby, said today.
“He died at his storyboard.”

I did a cartoon tribute to Hart on the Church Mice website (www.zorowski.com). He was always one of my favorites, and will be missed.

Not many beter ways to go than hard at work drawing cartoons still at 76. That’s one of the big appeals of cartooning - you never have to retire.
On an amusing note, and one I’m sure he’d have liked to script, how ironic that he should die of a stroke. Quite appropriate for a cartoonist.
