Corel Painter X Released
Published by Matt Glover March 11th, 2007 in Software Reviews
Something that happened a few weeks ago that I neglected to comment on, was the release of the updated version of Corel Painter. We’re now up to version 10 (X).
I’ve been using IX.5 for a few months now and absolutely love it. I find it difficult to imagine how they could possibly make the art tools and the natural media feel any better. However, I have found it a bit difficult when it comes to saving the image in different formats and other file manipulations. For that, I’ve been using PhotoPaint X3.
The early reviews I’ve heard from other artists are good, but not good enough to make me want to rush out an buy it. Keep an eye out for more thorough reviews in the next few weeks though. In any case, now is probably a good chance to try and pick up IX or IX.5 pretty cheap from your software retailers! If you’re wanting to try out Painter, give them a call and see what you can get!

Hey Matt,
Saw you looked at the sensational Art Rage last year. What were your impressions? BTW You gotta use the full $20 version to really get to know it. I’m a big fan and gave it 9/10 on Apple Matters. However, I’m no artist, so i’d be interesting to know both what you thought of it and how you have found it most useful in the cartooning process.
G’day Chris,
I’m too lazy to ever read the instructions/help section of any software, so unless it is REALLY intuitive to use, I give up on it pretty quickly.
I toyed around with Art Rage for a while, liked what I saw, but couldn’t figure out a few things very easily so went back to what I was using at the time. Having said that, I was using the free version…
Can we see any of the work you’ve done using Art Rage anywhere?
