Quick Tip: Take a break!
Published by Matt Glover February 20th, 2007 in Quick Tips
I know this is not possible for everybody, especially if freelance cartooning is your sole source of income. But sometimes it is really important to take a break from your drawing.
When we become too busy and our schedules are overloaded, we simply become tired. Not the sort of tired that can be fixed with a good nights sleep, but the sort of tired that seems impossible to escape from. We become lethargic and unmotivated. Perhaps worst of all for the cartoonist is that ideas stop flowing and we no longer enjoy wat we do.
It is times like this that we need to call a ‘pencils down’ time and walk away for a while.
At the beginning of this year, this is exactly how I felt. In the down time I’ve had, I’ve realised that I needed to get a bit more exercise and spend more time outside. Thus, I’ve started to again get serious about riding my mountain back along the trails that surround my home.
I’m loving it! And with the enthusiasm that I’ve found ror riding, I’ve found the enthusiasm returning for my drawing and other areas of life too.
So, if you’re worn out - take a break! It’s worth it….

yes man you are right. this is very much necessary for our physical fitness and also it refresh our mind which is very much essential for creative people. because it all mind game for them
any way again a nice article.
