The Death of Newspapers
Published by Matt Glover February 2nd, 2007 in Articles of InterestAn interesting article from Robert McMillan on how the printed newspaper hardly registers on the radar of most school students. Schools are turning to the internet for their teaching.
A quote:
More US teachers are using national and international online news sites in the classroom, leaving behind newspapers that fail to grasp the Internet’s importance in trying to reach students, a study found.
Fifty-seven percent of teachers use Internet-based news in the classroom with some frequency, said the study, which was based on a survey of 1,262 teachers in grades 5 through 12 in the fall of 2006, and released on Monday by the Carnegie-Knight Task Force on the Future of Journalism Education.
Further proof that putting all your effort into being published in the newspapers is a waste of time! It’s a market in decline, while the internet continues to grow.
That’s where we should be!!

I can’t remember the last time I bought a newspaper. It’s a shame that they are dying out (especially for cartoonists) but that’s progress I suppose.
