Others I should know about?

Enjoyed reading about the Cintiq Drawing Tablet. But nothing there made me want to rush out and buy one at this stage. Thanks for posting this Matt, it was really an informative piece of writing.

I have been using Wacom Intuos tablets (GD 12x18) for quite a few years now and I find them the best thing since sliced bread. They last the mileage, as do the pens. My first one would be 10 years old (cost around NZ$1100.00 - they are cheaper now) and it is still hunky-dory. Although the pen on the old one hasn't quite the feel of the newer models, you easily adapt between.

Am an Apple Mac girl through and through, although [cough] I do have a PC with a Wacom attached ( it deserves the older Wacom:0). For me it's the art programs that I need to be user friendly, rather than the tablet, as my Intuos tablets do all and more for my requirements. But I haven't found arty-farty program that does it all! Yet!

Thanks for posting the review. While I'm far from committed to investing in a tablet (I'm just a hobbyist cartoonist at best), I really appreciate having a review to read on the Wacom tablets. I briefly looked at buying the Intuos this past Christmas, but after calling some Wacom.com-listed retailers and distributors nearby to inquire about testing one out before purchasing, I was told that there weren't any places nearby that offered a test drive -- just as Tom mentioned above. And I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I thought I probably had the best chance of finding one to try. So, again, the review is very much appreciated!
