RIP: Joe Barbera
Published by Matt Glover December 19th, 2006 in Cartoons in the NewsAs a kid, I used to spend hours drawing the cartoon characters I saw on the television. Quite often, it was a character that Joe Barbera had developed with his long time friend and busines partner, Bill Hanna.
Tom and Jerry, Scooby-do and, of course, the Flintstones…I unashamedly ripped them off for all of my school projects and drawing time at home.
Anyway, Joe Barbera passed away this week, aged 95. I knew nothing about him other than his cartoon creations, yet he was one of the main players in me ending up doing what I do today.
Thanks Joe! Rest in peace.
