Christmas Cartoon Drawing Project Follow Up
Published by Matt Glover November 30th, 2006 in Group Projects
I thought it would be good to see how the cartoonists from our Christmas Cartoon Drawing Project have gone with selling their work.
I’ve had my cartoon appear on a few web sites and blogs, but nothing of any real note. I’ve submitted it to a couple of publications but have yet to hear back - I’m taking that as a ‘no’ because their December editions will be at the printers by now!
However, my own web site traffic has increased, as has the revenue from my advertising. Most of the new traffic has come from people searching for “Christmas cartoons” in the main search engines, which reinforces the idea of producing thematic cartoons well ahead of time and posting them on your site early. No doubt, this traffic will drop once Christmas is over, but now is the time to be working on New Years cartoons, Australia Day cartoons, Valentine’s Day cartoons and so on.
Anyway, if you submitted a cartoon for the project, let us know if you’ve had any success in selling it plus any impact it has had on your web traffic or cartooning in general.
Submissions for the next drawing project open tomorrow - stay tuned!

I didn’t really put any effort into selling them, but there definately is an increase in traffic. I’m getting a lot of hits for the keyword “christmas cartoons,” especially from MSN.
i’m coming, i’m coming..
