Cartoons on a Box

My boys are growing up way to fast for my liking.
They’re growing up too fast for my wallet’s liking too!
Last week we had to, again, go out and buy some new shoes as once little feet were no longer fitting into little shoes. There was some screaming and a few tantrums, but in the end we managed to make it home with a pair of shoes for each of the boys.
What I found really interesting though, was the boxes the shoes came in. Instead of the usual plain colour with a description of the shoe size and colour, these boxes were covered in cartoons of funny looking alien monsters. There was lots of bright colours and happy looking beings living life in their cartoon world. Needless to say, the shoes have been stashed away in the wardrobe, but the boxes have been the toy of choice for the last few days.
So when you’re next looking for a new market to sell your work, consider making a pitch to some of the marketing departments of foot wear companies, or try to strike up a relationship with a packaging company so they can recommend you to people looking for artwork for boxes. There is nothing that says a cartoonist should limit themselves to newspapers and magazines - and these corporate jobs pay better anyway!

Man do I identify! My 17 year old son wears size 13 (US size)!!! He just won’t stop growing, but my wallet won’t stop shrinking! And my 14 year old daughter taste in clothes and their prices… well… let’s just not go there! Pretty boxes or not, it’s breaking me! thus spoke churchpundit!
