Quick Tip: Thinking in Advance
Published by Matt Glover July 25th, 2006 in Quick Tips
If you’re submitting cartoons to an editor or are publishing work on your website to generate some traffic, it’s always good to think in advance. By this I mean, think about the events and issues that are likely to be prominent in a few months time.
For instance, the time to start submitting Halloween cartoons is right now. The night itself isn’t until October 31st (three months away), but editors will be planning editions of magazines and newletters for October now. Sending them work for Halloween at the end of September is probably too late.
Website wise, it takes a few weeks for the search engines to pick up newly posted cartoons on your site. But if you’ve posted correctly tagged Halloween cartoons a few months before, when people search for them around Halloween itself, your work will already be indexed and near the top of the search results.
