Spiderman Outs Himself

When I first saw the title of this article, I thought that Spiderman was now gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
But as the article says:
“In the latest edition of the Marvel comic Civil War on sale today, Spiderman does the unthinkable and removes his Spidey mask to publicly reveal his hidden identity.”
Hmmm. Does that mean he doesn’t have to wear his suit at all now?

Spidey outing himself is just about the stupidest stunt that spidey could have pulled.
Did it ever occur to him that he has now officially put all of his friends and family in danger by doing suhc a thing? Lets not In the current marvel universe, It was refreshing to see Spider man’s emphasis shift from the exploits of the webslinger’s super hero persona, to the trials and tribulations of the boy, Peter Parker, grappling with the awesome power that has been given to him.
But what was once refreshing has now gotten tired. What ever happened to the credo that he’s supposed to live by? you know the one, “with great power comes great responsibility?” What is he thinking by revealing his identity to the world? whats the responsibility in that???
A lets not forget that the Kingpin is reaaalllly out to get Spider man…. guess that solves THAT problem.
While Im on a rant I might as well go all out. I LIKE my superheros to be… SUPER HEROES! I use comics as a form of entertainment and escape. I dont like to open a book and be forced to grapple with the SAME issues that I get when i read the NY TImes, or the daily news. Civil liberties, racism, sexism… It’s all gone too far.
